Vi Tran - Head Coach

A native of Vietnam, Vi Tran immigrated at the age of 17 to the U.S. in 1988 and settled with his family in Seaside, California.  He received his AA in Art from Monterey Peninsula College in 1991; however, his passion was and is playing, teaching, and coaching tennis.

From 1991 to 1999 Coach Tran was assistant coach with MPC’s women’s tennis team.  During this time he was also a tennis instructor at various clubs in the Monterey Bay Area. Then, in 1999 he received United States Professional Tennis Association certification. Since then, he has been head coach at Seaside High School and Santa Catalina High School, both on the Monterey Peninsula.  In Coach Tran’s one season at Seaside High, the team had its first winning season in five years.  In his two campaigns at Santa Catalina High School, the team has posted winning records and advanced to C.C.S. playoffs.  

In August 2005 he became head coach of the Women’s Tennis Program at MPC.
