Kaitlyn Guevara - Head Coach

Kaitlyn Guevara

Kaitlyn Guevara is entering her first season as Head Coach for the Lobos Softball Program. Guevara comes to Monterey Peninsula College with a strong background in softball, as both a player and a coach.

Guevara herself is a California Community College Alumni. She competed in the Coast Conference with West Valley College where she was named to the 2015 All-NorCal and 2016 All-State teams. After WVC, Guevara earned a scholarship to continue her education and play softball at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. After college ball, Guevara had the opportunity to play softball in Mobile, Alabama in a small independent professional league, the American Softball Association (ASBA), during its inaugural season. After completing her undergraduate degree, she decided to return home to coach the game she loves.

Coach Guevara coached at WVC for four years, under Olympian Vicky Galindo Piatt. Initially, Guevara was hired at WVC to work as the pitching coach, but through the years she gained more responsibility, and took on the role of hitting coach as well. In her most recent season, Guevara was not only the main hitting coach, but she also took on the role of Interim Head Coach holding a pivotal role in the Vikings memorable 2023 season ending with a strong 30-10 record.

Outside of her community college coaching career, Coach Guevara has worked for 13 years as a private pitching and hitting instructor. She has also worked at Kinetic Performance Institute (KPI) , an athletic training facility in Morgan Hill, California as the Lead Skills Coach. While at KPI, she developed an understanding of biomechanics, and used metrics provided by technology like Blast, Hittrax and Rapsodo which she learned to apply to give athletes more autonomy in their training. Guevara sees herself as a true
student of the game.

Coach Guevara has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Lyon College as well as a Master of Science degree in Coaching and Exercise Sciences from Concordia University Irvine. She brings in athletic experience, high energy, and a drive to succeed to the softball program. She is very excited to join the Monterey Peninsula College athletics family.
